SUFISM IS REAL ISLAM
SUFI SUNNI LEADER EXHORTS MUSLIMS TO HAND OVER EXTREMISTS TO POLICE
New Delhi: Sufism is the real Islam and followers of the Islamic sect Wahabis are using biased literature and lethal weapons to propagate their own theorized Tauheed monotheism, which has become the reservoir of current terrorism the world over, noted Sufi leader Ashraf-e-Millat Hazrat Maulana Mohammad Ashraf Kichhouchhawi has said.
“Jehad Karna hain toh apne aap se karo, doosro se nahin”, (if you have to wage a holy war, war it against your own shortcomings and weaknesses, not against others),” he said delivering a talk on 'Sufism and Indian Islam' organized by the Global Foundation for Civilizational Harmony (India), a partner of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), here on April 23.
“Today we have enough proofs to say in the reference of history, Prophet Mohammad's and his companions' speeches that Sufism is the real Islam where Muslim-law jurists are Sufis and Sufis are Muslim-law jurists. Both have merged together to form the largest and the oldest sect of Islam i.e. Ahle Sunnat-o-Jamat community of traditional Muslims,” Hazrat Kichhouchhawi, who is also the General Secretary of the All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board, alleged that Wahabis are using biased literature and lethal weapons in order to publicise their own theorised Tauheed monotheism, to be called as the reservoir of the current terrorism.
The Board, he said, would shortly organize programmes in every commissionerate of the country to raise awareness in the community on these issues.
Exhorting the Muslims, he said, ““When an extremist turns up at your door seeking your support, when anyone tries to recruit you into terrorism, hand him over to the nearest police station.”
The Hazrat also quoted from the Gita and said one may call God by different names but all paths lead to One God.
Reciting the popular verse “Yada Yada Hi Dharmasya' from the Gita, the Hazrat said both Islam and Hinduism have spoken about Avatars coming to the earth whenever there is injustice and suffering of the masses and these Avatars have fulfilled the prayers of the masses, both during their lifetime and thereafter.
“We know that Islamic religion is not only for beliefs, worshiping and sociometry, but is also a religion, where there are laws to solve all the problems encompassing different departments of human life, enshrined in their holy book Quran, which is Allah's book, which was revealed on the last messenger Prophet Muhammad, so that he could explain every law and command of Allah in right intention and direction and also may alter them with Allah's permission, if required. And after his demise, the opportunity to change the Shariat laws has absolutely ceased.”
But the current wahabi extremist think tanks, in order to implement their multiple interests, are busy in eliminating the judicial powers of Prophet Muhammad, he enjoys in Islamic religion, engaging their Shura council to get them vetoed, so that by posing fictitious threat to religion they could enforce Jihad whenever and wherever they desire” he alleged.
The spiritual leader said that besides other beliefs, what Sufism and Sufi jurist-scholars stay firm on an Islamic belief, is that Islam's absolute judicial power and authority still remains in Prophet Muhammad's hands which is being practiced by all four Hanafi, Maliki, Shafei and Hanabila judicial schools, all over the globe, as the four segments of Ahle Sunnat-o-Jamat community of tradition Muslims. All of them conclude that every bit of global land is a land of piece and no single Muslim is forbidden to practice his religion, therefore there is no need of jihad and blood-shedding.
While Sufism is standing upto the vehement attacks and vicious campaign of the Wahabis, yet striding ahead on Prophet's path, ready to serve the humanity, embracing all and barring none from any religion, our countrymen and world's humanitarians have to decide whom should they help? he said.
Dr Khwaja Ekram, Associate Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, informed the distinguished audience at the Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) Auditorium about Sufism.
VIF Director and former Director, Intelligence Bureau, Mr Ajit Doval welcomed the guests. The talk was organized in collaboration with VIF.
GFCH India Director and senior journalist Mr K G Suresh said GFCH India was working towards a paradigm shift from the present concept of 'tolerating' each other to accepting and celebrating the diversities of people, faiths, cultures, civilizations and traditions.
Listing out the organization's achievements, he said apart from an ongoing film project aimed at bridging the gap between people of the North East and the mainland, supported by the United Nations AOC, GFCH India was planning to host an “Islam in the Service of the Nation' Fair in New Delhi later this year.
Later, Mr Chandra presented mementoes to Hazrat Maulana Syed Mohd Ashraf Kichchouchhawi, Dr Khwaja Ekram and noted Sanskrit scholar and last year's National Integration Award winner Prof Hanif Mohd Khan Shastri.
GFCH India was launched in Delhi on January 22, 2008 at a function attended and addressed by great religious and spiritual masters belonging to all faiths including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, founder of Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha Swami Dayanand Saraswati, founder of the Art of Living Sri Sri Ravishankar, renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev, the then chief of Akal Takht, the highest spiritual seat of the Sikh community, Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti, the president of Chinmaya Yuvak Kendra Swami Mitrananda, Jain Muni Sumermal, the Arch Bishop of Mumbai Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the then chief of Dar-ul-Uloom Deoband Maulana Mahmood Ali Madani, Jewish Rabbi Ezekiel Issac Malekar and Swami Prajnan Mitranand of Mata Amritanandamayi Mutt. The GFCH was launched by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam delivered the presidential address at the function and blessed the initiative. The spiritual masters and religious scholars who attended the function are the now Patrons of GFCH India.
The GFCH believes that a harmonious relationship between the different faiths can only be achieved only through free and frank dialogues between them and about each one's attitude about the others, and only a frank and not insincere and cosmetic dialogue will add to their potential and propensity to promote, and to avoid and resolve, conflicts.
